The stock instrumentation cluster of the Honda S2000 emits an orange glow as a result of incandescent bulbs and filters. Using the stock incandescent bulbs system, it is impossible to change the color of the instrumentation to a non-orange base color using filters alone.

Qube Engineering has developed a product that allows you to change the color of the instrument cluster without limitation.   By exchanging the orange incandescent bulb system with a true white light emitting diode (LED) system, you can now choose any color for your instrumentation.

How does it work?

The incandescent bulb system of the stock S2000 instrument cluster is replaced by a white LED array with a light diffuser.  This white light can then be passed through a set of color filters, resulting in a bright, color-rich light visible at any time of day, even top down in direct sunlight with sunglasses on.

Do the brightness controls still work?

Not only do the brightness controls still work, the autodimming feature for nighttime driving can now be bypassed using a second memory mode feature.

Because the S2000 is a very low profile and extremely maneuverable vehicle, it is often difficult for others on the road to see the car passing them or in their blind spot.  Because of this, many S2000 drivers have learned to drive with their headlights on during the daytime to increase the visibility and driving safety of the vehicle. 
With the stock system, turning on the headlights automatically dims the instrument cluster a brightness level more appropriate for evening driving…a feature that daytime headlight drivers find quite an annoyance because it must be manually bypassed every time the headlights are turned on.

Qube’s LED Gauge Cluster incorporates a dual memory brightness feature to accommodate both daytime headlight drivers and non-daytime headlight drivers.  Instead of automatically dimming the instrumentation when the headlights are turned on, turning on the headlights activates a second, fully programmable brightness setting.
So if you drive with your headlights on during the day, set the “headlight on” brightness level to something usable during both daytime and nighttime.  If you drive your vehicle without headlights during the daytime, set the “headlight on” brightness level to a brightness level useable for nighttime driving.

Of course, both “headlight off” and “headlight on” brightness settings retain their memory while the vehicle is off.

Won't my odometer reading change if I get someone else's core?

The gauge cluster computer, which keeps track of your vehicles total mileage, is not exchanged as part of the core exchange process. Therefore, you will retain your vehicle's correct odometer reading.

What are the drawbacks?

Qube’s LED Gauge Cluster requires modification to the plastic housing that the original incandescent bulbs sit in.  If you want to switch back to stock ther are two options.

1) You can replicate the stock look by using your stock colored plastic diffuser instead.
2) You can put an unmodified stock housing and incandescent bulb assembly back in.  The housing retails for around $70.

How do I get one?

Qube's LED Gauge Cluster is available as a fully assembled Core Exchange, a "SEND YOUR CORE" version, and as a Do-It-Yourself kit.

CORE EXCHANGE VERSION - A finished LED Gauge Cluster unit built to your order specifications will be shipped to you for installation. The Core Exchange installation process is fairly simple and requires only some basic tools. Once you complete the install, you will ship your OEM parts back to Qube Engineering.

"SEND YOUR CORE" VERSION - With the "Send Your Core" Version, you send your OEM gauge cluster to us for modification. The gauge cluster will then be sent back to you once modified to your order specifications. The installation process for the modified cluster is fairly simple and requires only some basic tools. There are no parts to return after your installation is complete.

DO-IT-YOURSELF VERSION - In addition to the Core Exchange installation procedure, installation of the DIY kit will require some additional gauge cluster assembly / disassembly, modification of your plastic gauge cluster housing using a rotary tool (Dremel), and simple soldering of one wire.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read them, downloadable from Adobe.com.
The total installation process should take between 45 minutes to an hour.

I’m a klutz. Can I do the install myself?

If, after reading the instructions, you still feel that you are unable to install the device yourself, your local auto repair shop should be able to do it for you. Just provide them a printout of the instructions.

Is there a waiting list?

CORE EXCHANGE VERSION - Yes. There are 3 AP1 Gauge Cluster cores in circulation at any given time. Once a core comes back for modification, the next person on the wait list will be notified.

"SEND YOUR CORE" VERSION - No. Because the core is provided by you, you do not have to wait on a wait list for a core to become available.

DO-IT-YOURSELF KIT - No. The DIY Kit is available for immediate shipping. Some additional turnaround time may be required for custom orders.

What if something goes wrong?

Although Qube’s LED Gauge Cluster has been in a very successful in testing and initial sales period, things are bound to happen.  If the LED Gauge Cluster malfunctions for any reason, aside from physical damage, within 6 months of purchase, it will be immediately taken care of at no cost to you. Simply send it back and it will be either fixed or replaced and returned to you as soon as humanly possible along with a full reimbursement for your shipping costs.
